Accordingly, Risen first launched for Xbox 360 and PC on October 2, 2009. The PC version is currently available via SteamGOG, and Humble Store.

Story

Delve into a gritty, raw, and atmospheric fantasy world in which every action has a consequence. In the epic world of Risen, filled with mysterious earthquakes, fearsome monsters, and unimaginable treasures, forge your path with the sword, learn the art of staff fighting, or become a powerful mage.

Gameplay

For those of you who played Risen back in 2009, we have great news for you. Firstly, the game didn’t change a single thing about its story line, which makes it a nostalgic game. However, many small changes were made to make the experience more pleasing. Such as the removal of the loading screen, upgrades in the AI systems, the addition of magic, and more. Secondly, now that there are magic and melee combat styles, positioning is essential to guarantee your survival. Accordingly, you can unlock new skills through the game.
Thirdly, Risen starts off slow with fights against wolves, rats, and ostriches, but the more you play, the more you face unique monsters such as giant bugs, lizard humanoids, and more. There is also a loot system where you use your flame torch to look for mushrooms and other loot that helps you survive.
Finally, if you’re a fan of Risen and want to experience the game once again, you can totally go for it. If not, we strongly recommend you spend your money elsewhere.
