Gundam Evolution

First look at Gundam Evolution

Gundam Evolution is an online first-person team shooter developed by Bandai Namco Online. It’s official on PC on September 21, 2022, with later releases on console such as PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X to begin on December 1, however cross-platform play will not be supported.

Story

Since Gundam Evolution is a first-person shooter, it doesn’t have that much of a storyline. It’s simply a clash between players to conquer an objective and win the party.

Gameplay

In this free-to-play 6v6 FPS game, you pilot the Gundam suits to your liking in order to win. Gundam Evolution revolves around a high-speed combat system called the “unique boost system.” Firstly, in this 6v6 game, you fight other players to take control of objectives around the map. The objectives change from one map to another and from one mode to another. Modes consist of point capture, dominance, and destruction. Point capture is basically attacking a spot and preventing defenders from taking it back. Dominations is about which of the 2 teams can capture 3 points faster than the other team. And finally, destruction, in which a team needs to stop the other one from using a mass destruction weapon on them.
Secondly, there are multiple suits for you to use in Gundam Evolution, and each one of them has unique abilities and powers. However, some aspects remain identical, such as the shooting aspect. You can even consider this game an Overwatch with no ranking system. Thirdly, there are up to four playstyles in Gundam Evolution. Frontliners that act as tanks Supporters who help play the objective and support the team from the back The damage providers, or DPS, who focus on destroying enemies’ suits and last but not least, the flankers with high mobility and a squishy playstyle.

Although winning is the main reason for most players to play competitive games, don’t get mad if the match ends in a draw, as Gundam Evolution has that feature when both teams are equal in objectives and points.
